As you already know, Nightingale provides a different college experience than other nursing schools. But don't worry, we're here to help support your success.
Now that you have made an unwavering commitment to your learning, personal growth, and professional development, you will be assigned a counselor or "strategist" in Learner Support Services, who will be your go-to point of contact throughout your program.
Each counselor I always would reach out, and be like, "Hey, can I just meet with you?" And you know, just establish like, "Hey, this is who I am. This is who you are." And like, you know, as I progressed, I would have questions and I would just, you know, message them in teams, and they'd get back to me right away and be like, "Hey, this is what you need to do." And they were just super helpful, super resourceful, super knowledgeable of just how Nightingale works and flows. Because it can be very overwhelming, especially for new learners, it was very overwhelming for me.
Learner Support Services, or "LSS" will help you in your academic career, and support you through any barriers you may run into during your journey through nursing school. We encourage you to take advantage of everything it has to offer. You can turn to LSS. If you need help in areas like academic success plans, navigating the college, study skills and academic resources, tutor resources, time management, and study schedules, status and enrollment changes, program plans and schedules, and navigating life barriers.
It's very easy when you're in an online space in a virtual space to think that you're alone, and that you don't get help and that you're on your own and you have to figure it out yourself. When it comes to Nightingale, I've learned pretty quickly that it doesn't have to be like that here. You can reach out you can ask. Everybody is open and willing to help and when it's come to my counselor in particular, she's jumped through hoops to make sure that I've gotten the help and the answers that I've needed so that I can kind of feel more confident with it and be able to get those answers quickly and know how to do the assignment the right way so that I can get high grades and I can get through the program.
LSS also offers referrals to outside resources. These are things like learner success, housing, commuter services, child care services, money management, veteran support services, learner accessibility services, counseling, LGBTQ resources, and the higher ed employee assistance program. Whether you need a question answered, a problem solved, or a friendly face, your LSS strategist is there for you every step of the way.
I think it's really important to have a relationship with their counselor because we're here to support them. So we're not just here academically, but also personally. We're here to help them navigate through those tough situations. So whether that's having a difficult conversation with their professor, or if that's having a difficult conversation about what's going on with them personally, or even professionally, helping them navigate not only through, you know, just Nightingale College, but who they are as a person, as a whole person, holistically.
I feel like that's what we've been able to do when building those relationships with our learners. And it makes it so nice because we get to see them from the beginning and then build those relationships throughout their time here and then also see them through and say, you know, you made it, we're here to help you and celebrate you.
Please don't hesitate to utilize your LSS strategist expertise as you embark on your nursing school journey. At Nightingale we're invested in your success!
