As the founder of modern nursing Florence Nightingale lit the path for our success with her unwavering values.
Our values shape who we are and how we relate to the people we live, work and learn with while a learner at Nightingale College, you'll be expected to live by these values, which are summarized in our evolveitude statement.
The evolveitude statement is more than a collection of positive words and concepts.
It is an interlocking system of values that run deep and inform a whole approach to learning to life as a nurse.
It reads, I choose deliberate evolvement, grounded in love, trust, forgiveness, courage, kindness, humility, gratitude and lightheartedness.
I strive for self governing, self actualizing and self transcending.
I act with growth mindset, transparency and responsibility while building community.
Becoming a nurse is not just about having the right skills and competency, you also need to practice integrity.
With that integrity in mind, you're expected to adhere to the college's code of conduct at the start of each semester, you'll be prompted to engage with the Code of Conduct through the college catalog to ensure you understand the ethical foundation of your role as a nurse.
There you'll learn more about learner rights. As a learner, you are entitled to legal protections, access and an educational environment conducive to learning.
Learner responsibilities.
With these rights come responsibilities to the larger community, including other learners, faculty, staff, healthcare partners and patients, professional disposition and lawful conduct all past, present or future, unlawful or unprofessional conduct may result in a learner's ineligibility for certifications, licensure or employment.
Academic integrity.
Integrity is the cornerstone of all academic and professional endeavors, learners are expected to conduct themselves with utmost honesty and integrity, and finally, dispositional action.
What happens when a learner violates the principles, standards or rules in this catalog, we invite learners to live our values, not only while at school, but in every aspect of their life.
These are characteristics that don't just make great nurses, but amazing human beings join us in working together to achieve our vision of better health and better humanity for a better world.
